I'm fairly new to the fantasy genre, having started when my BF introduced me to the Dragonlance Series. I absolutely loved this book and those to follow. I'm near the end of the series now, and haven't been disappointed in any of them. This first book introduced me to the characters I immediately fell in love with (and those I immediately hated as well). The writing is detailed enough to give me a great visual picture, but fast enough that the action is continuous. I originally purchased this as it was cheap for the Kindle, but price certainly didn't come into play at all for the rest of the series as I was hooked. Witches, elves, mountain men, shapeshifters... you name it, it's all here. Beautiful story about good vs. evil and their accompanying magic, and the good & evil that masquerade as each other. Magic is prized, but no more so than the hearts and minds of those who fight the good fight. Highly recommend...
